What is BSYSB?

BSYSB (Black Sea Symposium for Young Scientists in Biomedicine) is an annual international congress organized by medical students at Medical University – Varna. It provides a platform for undergraduate and postgraduate students to present their scientific work, attend high-level lectures, participate in hands-on workshops, and connect with peers and professionals from around the world. BSYSB aims to promote research, collaboration, and innovation in all fields of biomedical science.

How can I participate?

You can take part in BSYSB either as an active participant (by presenting a scientific project) or as a passive participant (attending without presenting). To join, simply complete the registration form on our website during the registration period. If you’re submitting an abstract, make sure to follow the abstract guidelines and submit it before the deadline. Once registered, you’ll gain access to all lectures, workshops, and social events included in the programme.

How can I submit an abstract?

After registering as a participant, you’ll receive access to your personal profile where you can upload your abstract following our abstract guidelines. Make sure to respect the submission deadlines and formatting rules.

What types of presentations are accepted?

We accept oral presentations and poster presentations. Projects can be case reports, original research, or literature reviews in various fields of biomedical science. Detailed information is available in the abstract guidelines section.

How are abstracts evaluated?

Submitted abstracts are reviewed by our Scientific Committee based on clarity, originality, and relevance. Selected abstracts will be included in the scientific programme and announced via email.

Can I attend the congress without presenting?

Absolutely! You can join as a passive participant and still enjoy all lectures, workshops, social events, and networking opportunities. Just make sure to register on time.

Are the lectures and workshops in English?

Yes, the entire scientific programme is held in English to ensure accessibility for our international audience. No Bulgarian knowledge is required to participate.

What kind of workshops are offered?

BSYSB offers a variety of interactive, hands-on workshops in fields like surgery, diagnostics, emergency medicine, and more. Spaces are limited and available with registration, so be sure to sign up early once the list is announced.

Are the lectures suitable for all students?

Yes! Our lectures are designed to be engaging and accessible for students from all biomedical fields. They’re delivered by experienced professionals and researchers, covering both clinical and scientific topics in a way that’s understandable even without advanced knowledge.

Is there a participation fee?

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes! All participants will receive a certificate of attendance, and those presenting will receive an additional certificate of presentation. These are issued after the event, digitally or in person.

Can I attend if I’m not from Varna?

Definitely! We welcome students from all over Bulgaria and abroad. The congress is held at Medical University – Varna, and we provide useful information about accommodation and transportation on our website.
